Continued Information about the children of John McClure and Rebecca Ewing:
John Ewing McClure (1790-1835) is ably covered in Mabel Boyd McClure’s book. However, I recently had time to work on his family, and thus tried to update her work (in my own small fashion). I attach the results in the following pdf document.
Mabel Boyd McClure was a descendant of John, and stated that “he was born in the vicinity of Baltimore, Maryland, three months after his parents arrived in this country from Ireland. Shortly after his birth, his parents moved to Lynchburg, VA., where they lived until John grew to manhood. He married Margaret Ann Kennedy on 21 Nov 1811 in Greeneville, TN. and located in Greeneville, Tennessee, where he took charge of the Iron works of his father-in-law, Daniel Kennedy. After a few years, he moved to Rhea County, Tennessee, and settled on a farm which he cultivated for many years. In 1835, he sold this farm, planning to move to Barry County, Missouri. He went down the Tennessee River and the Mississippi, to Louisburg, Arkansas, where his family and party were stricken with cholera. He died there, age 45. His wife, Margaret K. McClure, completed the journeyed to Barry County, Missouri, and with the help of the older sons, she made a comfortable home for her children and educated them. She was a woman of unusual business ability. Margaret Kennedy was born in Greene County, Tenn., in 1793. She died in Barry County, Mo., Dec. 1854, at the home of her son, John. She is buried in the cemetery at Washburn, Mo.”

Nancy America McClure was born 1792 in Lynchburg, VA. She married Robert McCracken 8 May 1810 in Washington County, TN, by Rev. John Adams. They were members of Member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. I know little else of her personal story, and would love to hear from any descendants! When I have the chance, I will try to determine more.
