The Children of Samuel Ewing & Margaret (continued)
Eleanor Ewing b ca 1734 married John Caldwell in Prince Edward Co., VA. in about 1755. Their son, Samuel Caldwell, was mentioned in the 1758 will of his grandfather Samuel Ewing. Eleanor Ewing Caldwell was, of course, sister to George Ewing who married Eleanor Caldwell. The two ladies exchanged last names! Other children unverified. In 1787 the Caldwells in Prince Edward County, VA David, Henry, James, John. (This is all I have on Eleanor - further information appreciated~!)
Margaret “Peggy” Ewing was born 30 Dec 1730. “Peggy” has been proven to be Margaret, daughter of brother, Samuel Ewing, of Prince Edward Co., Va. as his 1758 will and later deeds prove. Margaret married James Ewing (twin), son of Nathaniel Ewing & Rachel Porter. Margaret and James had no children.
Margaret Ewing b ca 1736 married James Ewing b 1732 twin to Dr. John Ewing both sons of Nathaniel and Rachel (Porter) Ewing. James was her half-cousin, her father being half-brother to Nathaniel. When James Ewing moved to Amelia/Prince Edward Co., Va. he was known as James Ewing, Jr. distinguishing him from James Ewing, SR full brother to Samuel Ewing and half-brother to Nathaniel Ewing. For several years there was a third James Ewing, not called Jr. or Sr. [even when he purchased land in 1753 and was “of Amelia” and when he sold it in 1770 he was “of Augusta Co., VA.”]
One James Ewing and one Nathaniel Ewing witnessed the 1758 Will of Samuel Ewing, father of above Margaret Ewing. I believe they were 26 year-old-James Ewing, Jr. and 16 year-old-Nathaniel Ewing (youngest of Joshua and Jane Ewing of Cecil Co., MD who moved to N.C.) James Ewing, Jr. and Margaret Ewing had no children. He is alone on the 1783 tax. It is assumed that Margaret died prior to that time. He was still alone on the 1790 and 1800 Census. Some time after 1803, when Jacob Venable’s estate was Administered, this James Ewing (twin) married Mary Venable, Jacob’s widow. (This is all I have on Margaret - further information appreciated!)
Ann Ewing was born 1740, the last child I show for Samuel & Margaret Ewing. She was still single in 1770 according to the Deed dividing the property of her father and mother. (I have no further information on Ann)

"In 1784 Samuel and Mary moved to Jackson Co., GA which became Clarke Co., Ga. in 1801. They lived on Shoal Creek and Deeds in Jackson and Clarke Counties, and Georgia Marriage Records, help to identify sons and their spouses and the daughter and her husband."
